(PLANO, TEXAS Nov. 18, 2010) Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano is proud to announce Howard C. Derrick, III, M.D., general surgeon, as chief of the department of surgery. Dr. Derrick served as the hospital’s first chief of the department of surgery at Baylor Plano from the hospital’s opening in December 2004 through March of 2007.
Dr. Derrick completed his medical training at the Medical School of Georgia, before completing an internship and residency at Baylor University Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, and the American College of Surgeons. In addition to his role as chief of surgery, Dr. Derrick also has served as chairman of the Laser Committee at Baylor University Medical Center since 1990 and served as president of the Baylor University Medical Center medical staff in 2002.
“As chief of surgery, I look forward to serving in a leadership role at Baylor Plano and working with other members of the medical executive committee to establish an environment optimal for patient care,” said Dr. Derrick.
