Support & Survivorship

At Baylor Plano, we don't stop at treating your cancer. That's because we're not just treating cancer. We're treating you. We offer compassionate care and support during your treatment—and long after your treatment is complete—with groups and events to help you maximize your recovery.

Nurse Navigator

Before, during and after cancer treatment, our full-time oncology Nurse Navigator provides a single point of contact who will be with you every step of the way.

We'll start at the beginning, often attending your biopsy with you if requested. Our oncology Nurse Navigator has attended hundreds of biopsies in order to comfort patients undergoing the procedure.

Other Ways We Can Help:
  • We assist you in understanding your diagnosis and treatment options
  • We are "connectors." We can help you find hospital and community resources and clinical trials.
  • We serve as a link between you and your health care providers
  • We offer a preoperative orientation for surgery patients
  • We reach out to you with follow-up calls after your surgery

Our Nurse Navigator can be reached by calling 469.814.5768

Fitness & Nutrition

Healthy Steps™

Healthy Steps™ is a therapeutic exercise and movement class created by a dance major and breast cancer survivor. It combines music, dance, aerobic exercise and stretching to facilitate lymphatic flow, cardiovascular health, flexibility, balance and endurance.

Held every Thursday from 2:30-3:30 p.m., the free class is led by lymphedema therapists who are also certified instructors in the Healthy Steps program. Please call 469.814.2550 to register.

Nutrition Program

Cancer patients often want to know the role that nutrition can play in health and recovery. Baylor Plano has piloted an outpatient nutrition referral program with physicians for newly diagnosed cancer patients.

The program will eventually be offered to all oncology outpatient clinics of physicians on the medical staff at Baylor Plano.
