Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano can help you and your family gain the knowledge you need to improve your health through Medical Nutrition Therapy. Our registered, licensed dietitians will work with you to develop a healthy eating plan to achieve your goals.

Our dietitians provide nutrition education in an outpatient setting on many topics including:  

  • Nutrition and Cancer - Eating healthy when you are undergoing cancer treatment is especially important. A healthy diet can help your body fight cancer and cope with the treatments.
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Diabetes - We work with the diabetes program in developing a meal plan that will help control blood sugars while also addressing weight loss, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
  • Digestive disorders - Determining daily calorie needs
    Managing your weight begins with knowing how many calories you need each day. To determine your individual calorie needs we offer an accurate metabolic measurement with a simple breath test.
  • Healthy eating - Healthy eating is important at every stage in life. A healthy diet can help prevent weight gain, heart disease, cancer, and even diabetes. Our dietitians can work with you to develop a healthy eating plan for you and your whole family.
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Kidney disease
  • Weight loss program - A one on one program designed to meet your individual weight loss goals and needs. You will work with the dietitian to develop healthy eating habits at home and when eating out.
  • Weight loss surgery program - A comprehensive program to teach you how to eat healthy following weight loss surgery. This includes a pre-op visit to review your new diet and ensure you stay healthy after surgery. We then offer classes at 6 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year post-op so you can continue to learn about healthy eating to be successful with your surgery. We also offer nutrition education for patients whose insurance requires they see a dietitian before they are approved for the surgery.

  • Nutrition during pregnancy

To schedule your appointment with the dietitian:

  1. Visit or call your physician to request an order for nutrition education. Have your physician fax the order to 469.814.6761.
  2. When the order is received we will call you to schedule your appointment.
  3. Your insurance may pay part or all of your nutrition education. Please call your insurance carrier to check your benefits for "Outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy provided by a Registered Dietitian."
