We are always adding to our arsenal of high-resolution imaging scanners. In fact, our new Craig Ranch facility is one of only a few facilities in the world, and the only facility in Texas to offer dual-head molecular breast imaging. This technology can visualize tumors less than 1 cm in size from two camera angles—detecting cancer in early, treatable stages.
Molecular breast imaging can detect cancers that may not be seen with mammography alone, but is less expensive and easier to complete than an MRI. Molecular breast imaging doesn’t replace mammography, but is ordered in addition to it. The technology is most often used in difficult cases where there is a strong family history or extremely dense breast tissue that could limit the radiologist’s ability to find a very small tumor.
