If an injury is harming your golf game as well as your body, consider the Back to Golf program at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.
“Back to Golf at Baylor Plano is different than visiting a golf pro,” says Daniel Evans, a physical therapist and trained Back to Golf therapist. “We evaluate your swing, look at biomechanics and identify faults that may be causing injury or impaired performance.”
The program can be custom-designed based on your needs. Many golfers choose four one-on-one sessions. At the first visit, every golfer undergoes a video analysis of his or her golf swing and a full-body physical therapy evaluation. The full-body evaluation assesses joint range of motion and mobility, muscle strength and postural stability.
Evans says many of the golfers he sees suffer from lower-back pain, and shoulder, neck and hip problems are also common. “Through the video analysis and physical therapy evaluation, we identify the root of the problem and design a program to address it correctly,” Evans says.
The follow-up visits may include stretching, strength training, endurance training, power training and mobilization exercises to help resolve the problem. “We try to correct biomechanical faults in the swing to help prevent injury and enhance performance,” Evans adds.
