Following a stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, or if you’re coping with a condition such as multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s disease or Guillain-Barre syndrome, our physical, occupational and speech therapists can help you regain as much function as possible.
Some people may have difficulty eating and drinking safely, and may need to regain strength and coordination for swallowing. Our speech-language pathologists are trained to use VitalStim®, a device that applies electrical stimulation to strengthen muscles required for eating and drinking safely. Other patients may work with our physical and occupational therapists for help with navigating uneven surfaces, walking or dressing.
Vestibular rehabilitation can help improve balance for life activities from tying shoes to grocery shopping, as well as patient education for safety and mobility skills
A physician referral is required for physical, occupational and speech therapy. If you need a referral to a physician on the Baylor Plano medical staff, click here or call 1.800.4BAYLOR. To find out more about physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor Plano, call 469.814.2550.
