Regardless of which weight loss surgery you choose, most patients go home within 24 hours of their procedure. But ultimately the question patients considering bariatric surgery want to know is: How soon will I see results?  

You can expect to start losing weight within four weeks after surgery. While individual results—and individual commitments to healthy lifestyle changes—will vary, within 18 to 24 months, you could lose 60 to 80 percent of your excess body weight. 

In addition to your weight loss, many medical complications associated with being overweight or obese, such as diabetes and hypertension, could improve or even be prevented from developing.
