Losing Weight

Why is it so Hard to Lose Weight?

Weight Loss Surgery Center: 469.814.5677

When your stomach is full, stretch receptors signal to the brain that it’s time to stop eating. Unfortunately, this process can take 15-20 minutes. Thus, you can end up overeating before you know you’ve done it.

Add to this years of a sedentary lifestyle, illness or unhealthy eating patterns, and you may want to stop a weight-loss regimen before you start. Don’t.

Losing weight is hard work. But if you start slowly and you’re patient with yourself, you’ll see progress and you’ll feel better.

Here are some weight loss tips to get started:

  • Eat your food slowly. You’ll enjoy it more and lessen your tendency to overeat.
  • Choose reasonable portions and learn healthier ways to prepare your food.
  • Keep a food journal. Write down everything that goes in your mouth and the mood you were in when you ate/drank it.
  • Make changes you can stick with. Costly meals, diet pills or drastic diets won’t last.
  • Get moving. Find a walking partner, ride your bicycle or walk your dog. Try to do this for 30 minutes every day.

Learn other ways to break your bad eating habits and make healthy indulgences guilt-free.
