It happened gradually. Never overweight as a child, Rachel Nichols started a battle with weight that began in college and peaked when she realized she was a 265-pound, 30-something struggling with depression.
In December 2006, she turned to Baylor Plano for weight loss surgery.
Today, she has lost 120 pounds and weighs less than she did in high school. “I look good, I feel good and I have more confidence,” she says.
Weight loss surgery is not a magic bullet. “You have to be in the right place mentally—it’s still work,” she says. But out of her commitment to eat healthy food and watch portions, her success has rubbed off. “My husband lost 20 pounds because we stopped bringing junk food into the house.”
