Support Group 

Weight Loss Surgery Support Group

Choosing bariatric surgery is a life-changing step, and one that you don’t have to take alone. At Baylor Plano, we offer a Weight Loss Surgery Support Group for current and former surgery patients—even if you had your surgery at another hospital. 

Highlights of our program include:

  • Discussions led by a clinical psychologist that address topics such as setting goals and handling weight-related anxiety and depression.
  • Emotional support to help you through postsurgery changes in body shape, relationships and emotions.
  • A clothing swap designed to ease the transition to different clothing sizes. Donate clothes that are too big; or borrow clothes for as long as needed as you transition to smaller sizes.
  • Helpful resources, such as recipe sharing or consignment store locations.
  • Guest speakers who cover topics chosen by the group. Past speakers have included a plastic surgeon who offered post-op skin care advice and a local chef who prepared smoothies. 

We meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month in the conference rooms on the Garden Level of Baylor Plano’s main hospital. Prospective, current and former patients are welcome.
