Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie's history goes all the way back to 1914 with the opening of the area's first hospital, the Waxahachie Sanitarium. The opening of the medical facility brought needed health care services to the burgeoning Ellis County community.
In 1965, the Waxahachie Sanitarium was renamed the W.C. Tenery Hospital and was located in the current facility. For another 18 years the hospital served Ellis County communities as an independent entity until 1983 when it joined Baylor Health Care System.
To better meet the needs of the growing Ellis County community, construction on the new Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie is well underway. Scheduled to open fall 2014, the new hospital will be located at the intersection of I-35E and Highway 287. Follow our progress as we build an advanced medical center to care for the Ellis County community for generations to come.
