Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie's history goes all the way back to 1914 with the opening of the area's first hospital, the Waxahachie Sanitarium. The opening of the medical facility brought needed health care services to the burgeoning Ellis County community.
In 1965, the Waxahachie Sanitarium was renamed the W.C. Tenery Hospital. For another 18 years the hospital served Ellis County communities as an independent entity until 1983 when it joined Baylor Health Care System as Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie.
To better meet the needs of the growing Ellis County community, Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie opened in December 2014 at the intersection of I-35E and Highway 287. It is an advanced medical center to care for the Ellis County community for generations to come and was the first hospital in North Texas to carry the Baylor Scott & White name.
