Addiction to alcohol or other mood-altering substances is a chronic and potentially fatal illness, with predictable symptoms and stages. When a person continues to drink or use a drug in spite of serious, negative consequences, they not only hurt themselves, but family and loved ones suffer too as the disease becomes progressively worse.
We often find symptoms of both addictive and psychiatric disorders to be present, a condition referred to as Dual Diagnosis. We believe the best outcomes occur when both problems are treated at the same time.
At Baylor, many adults begin their recovery in our Partial Hospitalization Program. Under the care of your psychiatrist, the cycle of addiction can be interrupted by attending our day treatment program Monday – Friday. Your primary therapist will introduce you to the twelve-step philosophy of recovery.
Baylor’s Intensive Outpatient Program is for adults who are able to maintain their sobriety given the support and structure of a 3 hour/day twelve-step based treatment program. All programs include weekly aftercare group.
