Psychological Health

The days of treating medical illnesses from only a biological or physical perspective are long gone.

Baylor Health Care System has a group of Health Psychologists specially trained in behavioral medicine.  They provide evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic services aimed at helping patients develop strategies for coping with illness, improve health outcomes, enhance quality of life, and overcome emotional problems associated with illness.

Psychological Issues Stemming from Physical Illness

Psychosocial issues such as depression, stress, anxiety, cognitive or memory problems, or marital distress can develop over the course of physical illness.

Behavioral Medicine is a specialized field which aims to prevent or ameliorate physical disease by treating the “whole person”.  It integrates treatment to include the biological, psychological, behavioral, and social factors know to cause, worsen or perpetuate illnesses and disability.

Issues We Treat:
  • Adjustment/coping with chronic illness
  • Anxiety
  • Binge eating
  • Depression
  • Pain
  • Sleep
  • Stress
