Admission to an inpatient unit is not always necessary to obtain relief from serious psychiatric symptoms. Your psychiatrist will evaluate your need for medication and may admit you to Baylor’s Partial Hospitalization Program. In our 6 hours/day program, you can experience the benefits of a hospital-based, multi-disciplinary treatment approach in a compassionate setting without the cost of hospitalization.
The Partial Hospitalization Program effectively combines cognitive-behavioral therapy groups, education groups and daily nursing care to help you learn new psychosocial and relationship skills that support health and well-being.
Your program therapist will work with you to establish your goals for treatment and will coordinate aspects of your care throughout the program, such as weekly visits with your psychiatrist, daily medication monitoring, and weekly family group.
Much emphasis is placed on developing a plan for continuing care with community-based providers. For some, this transition is made easier by “stepping down” from 6 hours to 3 hours/day of treatment Monday – Friday in Baylor’s Intensive Outpatient Program.
At Baylor, we treat psychiatric disorders in the least restrictive setting possible. Our Intensive Outpatient Programs are designed to allow you to continue most of your daily tasks while receiving the support of our 3 hours/day therapy program. All programs include weekly aftercare group.
