What to Expect
Six Symptoms You Should Never Ignore
You can rely on us to be close when you need us. At Baylor, we're equipped to handle a wide array of emergency situations.
We have emergency services in hospitals across the metroplex and all Baylor Health Care System hospitals provide full emergency services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For the most urgent emergency situations, critical patients can reach the nearest emergency room in minutes by a CareFlite helicopter.
Trauma Services
No one ever plans to have a trauma related event, but the fact is that trauma is the leading cause of death in people ages one to 44. Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas provides comprehensive trauma services at our Level 1 trauma center and directly receives trauma patients, as well as patients transferred from other Baylor Health Care System hospitals and health care facilities throughout the region.
Baylor Dallas is one of only 16 Level 1 trauma centers in the State of Texas. All Baylor Health Care System hospitals coordinate with Baylor Dallas to transfer patients when a trauma related event has occurred and a patient needs to receive a higher level of care than is offered at their local hospital. Patients are transferred either by ground or air ambulance.
To provide our region with even more access to quality emergency care, Baylor Health Care System is building a network of licensed emergency hospitals across North Texas.
Our first Baylor Emergency Medical Center location opened July 1 in Aubrey, Texas. The Aubrey location is open 24 hours a day and staffed by physicians ready to treat any kind of emergency.
You never know when an emergency may happen, but you can count on us to provide you with quality emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Knowing what to expect during your visit to the emergency room may help put you more at ease.
