How you can help
Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute, established in 1993 to promote cardiovascular research and education, focuses on the development and implementation of new techniques and technologies in cardiovascular care.
Excellence in patient care and research begins with excellence in medical education. As a major teaching hospital in the Southwest, Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas trains more than 200 residents and fellows each year, improving the level of medical care for the entire community. Upon completion of their graduate programs, many remain in North Texas. Baylor seeks philanthropic support to ensure we can continue this high-quality educational program, recruit the most outstanding medical school graduates and help maintain a valuable health care asset for the Dallas community.
The Center for Ethics and Palliative Care will soon assist patients facing a life-threatening or life-ending illness and their families handle the physical, emotional and spiritual issues they face. The field of palliative care seeks to improve care options for patients at the end of life. Emphasis is placed on care that alleviates physical and emotional pain and symptoms, as well as providing spiritual support throughout a life-challenging illness.
The Baylor Nursing Initiative is a multi-pronged approach to address Baylor’s shortage of RNs. The Initiative allows us to develop our nursing staff and nursing leadership by supporting employees seeking bachelor’s degrees in nursing, offering opportunities for Baylor nurses to teach in local nursing schools, recruiting new nursing school graduates to Baylor and mentoring our RNs in best patient care practices.
The Baylor Neuroscience Center is recognized for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. All neuroscience-related services (currently spread across five buildings on the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas campus) will be consolidated on floors one through five of Hoblitzelle Hospital at Baylor Dallas. Having dedicated intensive care units, surgery suites and other neurologic related services in one area will give patients highly specialized care and better access to their caregivers and physicians.
