About the Heritage Awards

The All Saints Health Foundation celebrates service to Baylor All Saints and the community at the annual Heritage Awards Dinner. The Dr. Truman C. Terrell Award recognizes a physician who has demonstrated exemplary dedication and commitment to the practice of medicine, patients and the community.

The Elizabeth B. and W.A. Moncrief, Sr. Award to recognize a philanthropist who has been devoted to making a positive impact on the health of the community.

Dr. Terrell was a prominent Fort Worth pathologist who established Terrell’s Laboratories in 1915. In 1973, Dr. Terrell began his service as the managing director of All Saints Hospital, a position he held for more than 30 years. Under his leadership, the hospital more than doubled in size.

For 15 years, Dr. Terrell was the hospital’s sole benefactor, and he played a major role in building the original 9-story structure on the present campus.

To honor his memory and his unwavering dedication to the medical profession, to the welfare of his patients and the community, The Dr. Truman C. Terrell Award is given annually by the All Saints Health Foundation.

The All Saints Health Foundation also honors community philanthropists with the Elizabeth B. and W.A. Moncrief Sr. Award. In the 1950s, the Moncriefs formed a charitable foundation to share their good fortune with others.

Over the years, the Moncrief Foundation has been very generous to Baylor All Saints Medical Center, as well as many other local organizations. The Moncrief’s gifts have supported the hospital’s Moncrief Annex, The University of Texas Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Center, the Bishop Davies Center and the campaign that built the Eighth Avenue facility, now called the Moncrief Tower. Their generosity continues to make a positive impact on the health of the community and will benefit generations to come.

The Moncriefs set the highest standards for philanthropy and in tribute to them All Saints Health Foundation bestows an award bearing their names.
