2008 National Quality Forum National Quality Healthcare Award

Baylor Health Care System is the 15th winner of the 2008 National Quality Forum National Quality Healthcare Award. The award recognizes exemplary healthcare organizations who are role models for achieving meaningful, sustainable quality improvement in healthcare, and is presented in partnership with Modern Healthcare magazine and Studer Group.

Leapfrog Patient-Centered Care Award

Baylor Health Care System won the first The Leapfrog Patient-Centered Care Award. The Leapfrog Patient-Centered Care Award is given to a hospital or health system whose board has most successfully driven the creation of a true partnership between patients and their caregivers. Baylor Health Care System is recognized for excellence in such areas as: how informed the board is on quality, safety and patient experience within the organization; how well integrated are patient advocates into the organization at every level; and for having a policy in place for disclosing medical errors to patients and/or their families.
 
HealthWatch 2006 Report: Best Overall Quality of Care

Baylor Health Care System ranked highest among all hospital systems in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for "Best Overall Quality of Care," according to The HealthWatch 2006 Report, conducted by Rincon and Associates, a Dallas-based market research company. Among the findings, the report shows that in addition to identifying Baylor Health Care System as having the best overall quality of care in the region, nearly twice as many consumers regard Baylor hospitals as having the best quality of cancer treatment in comparison to the second-ranked system. In the area of quality heart treatment, Baylor outscored its closest competitor by 7 percentage points.

BaylorHealth.com is among winners of 2007 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. Baylorhealth.com won a silver award for best site design in the health system category and a silver award for best newsroom. Sites receiving the 2007 eHealthcare Leadership Awards were selected from more than 1,100 entries.

The Dallas Business Journal ranked Baylor as one of the Top 70 Best Places to Work for 2007. Rankings are based in large part on employee surveys that determined the satisfaction of employees.

2007 Web Marketing Association Award

The Web Marketing Association presented Baylor Health Care System with a 2007 Web Award for Outstanding Achievement in Web Site Development for BaylorHealth.com. The award serves as recognition of Baylor’s commitment to information technology to promote the System and serve the community.
 
Best Practices in Seasonal Influenza Immunization from the American Nurses Association

The American Nurses Association (ANA) has recognized Baylor Health Care System with a “Best Practices in Seasonal Influenza Immunization” award as part of a program designed to identify organizations that successfully increased vaccination rates of their employees. These best practices will be compiled into a guide book for use by health care systems and personnel around the country. In addition to Baylor, only four other organizations around the country, including Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine; Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.; Emory HealthCare in Atlanta, Ga.; and Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio; were bestowed this honor.

2007 Modern Healthcare’s Most Powerful List

Modern Healthcare magazine listed Baylor Health Care System President and CEO Joel Allison at number 26 on its annual list of the “100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare”. Allison was selected as one of 300 finalists out of more than 12,000 nominations for the honor.

2007 Telly Awards
Baylor Health Care System received two bronze awards at the 28th Annual Telly Awards, including an award for a 30-second television advertisement focusing on Baylor’s commitment to research and innovation, and an award for 15-second television service line ads featuring Baylor patients.
