Paul Convery, M.D., joined the Baylor Health Care System as senior vice president and chief medical officer in 2006. In this role, he works with physician and operational leadership to advance health care improvement initiatives throughout the System.
Dr. Convery previously was with SSM Health Care-St. Louis from 1999 to 2006, where he served as executive vice president and chief medical officer. In 2005, he also served as interim president of the two hospitals in the St. Louis market. SSM Health Care-St. Louis was the first health care winner of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
He has lectured extensively on the topics of developing physician leadership; improving patient safety and clinical quality in healthcare; implementing the Malcolm Baldrige Process for organizational improvement in health care; and electronic health records.
Prior to joining SSM Health Care, Dr. Convery was the medical director of Southwest Medical Center, a large multi-specialty group practice in St. Louis. He also practiced internal medicine for 22 years.
Dr. Convery graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and received a Master of Medical Management from Tulane University in New Orleans. He is board certified in internal medicine, is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives.
