Mark Valentine - President of THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano. Mark Valentine is president of THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano, a 68-bed, full-service heart hospital that is the first of its kind in Collin County. Located next to Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, the hospital is a partnership between Baylor Health Care System and 86 cardiovascular physicians and surgeons who practice in North Texas.

THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is Baylor Health Care System's second dedicated heart hospital. The facility will be licensed as a general acute care hospital providing inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, including a cardiac and vascular emergency department and heliport. The $100 million venture is scheduled to open in January 2007.

Valentine brings to this position more than 14 years of experience in working with cardiovascular physicians and heart facilities recognized for their comprehensive cardiovascular services.

Prior to joining Baylor, Valentine served as regional vice president of cardiology and vascular services for the Cleveland Clinic Health System Western Region, where he was responsible for three hospitals' cardiovascular programs and two cardiothoracic programs. From 1991 to 2002, he was director of heart and lung services at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio. In 2002, he joined St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, Ohio, as vice president of cardiovascular services.

Valentine earned his bachelor's degree in allied medicine with a major in respiratory therapy from Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from Baker College in Michigan.
