(FORT WORTH, Texas, August 1, 2006) - Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth announced today that a local Fort Worth family, Don and Gloria Siratt have donated $1 million to the All Saints Health Foundation. The Siratt's are prominent Fort Worth business owners and philanthropists, and they have provided ongoing support for improving women's and children's health care in Tarrant County. Their gift will provide support for the fourth floor of the Andrews Women's Hospital, which will be named in their honor. The total funds raised for the project to date have surpassed $16 million dollars.
The Andrews Women's Hospital fourth floor will be one of two postpartum floors consisting of 32 beds and 32 well nursery beds Each postpartum room will have a full-size Murphy bed for use by the patient's family and a separate area for family to relax, as well as wireless capabilities. The design of the rooms was based on input from physicians on the medical staff, nurses, patients and their families.
"The Siratt family has been incredibly generous to healthcare initiatives in our community, particularly in the area of women and children's health," said Freddy Jones, president of All Saints Health Foundation. "We are honored that they have chosen to support the Andrews Women's Hospital with such a meaningful gift."
"We feel that family is of the utmost importance," said Don Siratt. "Being in a home-like environment that allows your loved ones to stay in close proximity after childbirth, enhances the whole birthing experience."
The Siratt's have always been a very close-knit family. This focus on family is part of what motivated them to support the Andrews Women's Hospital on the campus of Baylor Fort Worth.
The new Women's Hospital is scheduled for completion in 2008. The $75 million, 170,000-square-foot, four-story facility will offer traditional maternity services, a neonatal intensive care unit, gynecological surgery and a comprehensive range of specialty services for women of all ages, including diagnostics, screenings and treatment. Other expansion at Baylor All Saints includes a new 120,000-square-foot, five-story medical office building, a new 27 bed transplant unit, a new 28 bed oncology unit, and a second new parking structure with free parking for 600 cars.
The not-for-profit Baylor All Saints Medical Centers serve more than 100,000 people annually through two hospitals, numerous primary care physician centers and practices, a rehabilitation and fitness center, and a variety of medical specialties. Programs of excellence in cardiology, transplantation, neurosciences, oncology and women's services form the heart of the hospitals' services. All Saints joined Baylor Health Care System in January 2002.
