(DALLAS, SEPT. 18, 2006) Join us for the "How Pink Can You Get?" pep rally and the "Pink Pooch Parade," as Baylor Health Care System spreads the word about breast cancer awareness. In addition to these two media events, Baylor Health Care System medical centers will host a variety of community events to focus attention on breast cancer.

Friday, Sept. 29
Stop by the
"How Pink Can You Get?" pep rally on Friday, Sept. 29 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Baylor Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center Park, 411 North Washington Ave. in Dallas. Baylor employees will vie for the three "pinkest" costumes during the pink parade. The Hillcrest High School band, cheerleaders and drill team will help put the pep into the rally.
Wednesday, Oct. 10
Join us at the
Pink Pooch Parade, Oct. 10, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, 4700 Alliance Blvd., Plano. Therapy dogs, used in rehabilitation therapy and for patient visits at Baylor Plano, will strut in their pinkest attire in hopes of winning the Pinkest Pooch vote. Other prize categories include "Hot Dog" and the "Top Dog."

Saturday, Sept. 30
The
Women's Health Forum, Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gleneagles Country Club, 5401 W. Park Blvd. Plano, will feature physicians from Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, speaking on breast cancer, weight loss, incontinence and other health issues. Reservations are necessary. Portraits for the Cure® by Debra Shore of breast cancer survivors, physicians, family members of survivors is a photography exhibit featuring 27 Dallas-area residents. This free exhibit will be open to the public during October in the Medical Plaza Breezeway, Baylor University Medical Center, 3500 Gaston Avenue, Dallas.

Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano will host their exhibit from Monday, Oct. 2 through Tuesday, Oct. 31 in the hospital lobby, 4700 Alliance Blvd., Plano. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Baylor Medical Center at Garland will host their exhibit from Tuesday, Oct. 3 through Tuesday, Oct. 31 in the main lobby of the Buchholz Pavilion, Baylor Medical Center at Garland, 2300 Marie Curie Blvd., Garland. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

"Portraits for the Cure"® by Debra Shore of breast cancer survivors, physicians, family members of survivors will be featured at Baylor All Saints Medical Center, 1400 Eighth Ave., Ft. Worth, and Baylor Medical Center at Southwest Fort Worth, 7100 Oakmont Blvd., Fort Worth, from Tuesday, Oct. 3 through Wednesday, Oct. 25. The exhibit has 48 portraits, with over 25 of those from Tarrant County.

On Friday, Oct. 27, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano will offer a
Breast Cancer Risk Assessment from 9 a.m. to noon, in conference rooms A/B, hospital's garden level, 4700 Alliance Blvd., Plano. The breast cancer risk assessment and blood pressure screenings are free; there is a $10 fee for the cholesterol, glucose and triglycerides screenings also offered. The American Cancer Society reports that about 211,920 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2006. About 40,970 women will die from the disease this year. Right now there are slightly more than 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer.
Baylor Health Care System, a not-for-profit health care provider based in North Texas, is a growing network of hospitals, primary care and specialty centers, rehabilitation clinics, senior health centers, affiliated ambulatory surgery centers and the Baylor Research Institute.
