Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas Recognized for 'Consumer Choice Award' Based on High Quality and Image

(DALLAS, Oct. 25, 2006) - For the eleventh consecutive year Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas has earned the 2006/2007 Consumer Choice Award by the National Research Corporation (NRC) for the Dallas region. The Consumer Choice Award is given to the hospitals that consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in 186 markets throughout the U.S. This is the eleventh year NRC has recognized and honored Consumer Choice Award winners and the eleventh occasion that consumers have chosen Baylor Dallas for these awards.
Award winners are determined by gauging consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company's annual NRC Healthcare Market Guide Study
® (HCMG).Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas, as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The 2006/2007 HCMG study surveyed more than 200,000 households representing 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.

Baylor's flagship hospital has also received other awards in 2006 from NRC, recognizing several areas of consumer preference: Most Preferred Hospital; Best Doctors; Best Nurses.
The 2006/2007 Healthcare Market Guide is the nation's largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to rate hospitals contains more consumer responses than NRC's study. The study has a margin of error of + or - 0.2 percent at a national level.
