Commitment to delivering safe, quality, compassionate care begins with Baylor's founding statement: "Is it not now time to build a great humanitarian hospital, one to which men of all creeds and those of none, can come with equal confidence?"
Those words from Dr. George W. Truett, 1903, have always been a Baylor hallmark. Baylor's trustees formalized this commitment a number of years ago by initiating a Quality Resolution that made "striving to deliver the best care anywhere" a top system priority. From that point, Baylor began building an organization wholly focused on quality improvement and clinical excellence, as evidenced by the recognitions Baylor has received nationally and locally.
For 14 consecutive years, Baylor Dallas has been recognized among the nation's top 50 hospitals in several medical specialties in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" guide. Additionally, Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation is ranked among the nation's top rehabilitation facilities.
For the 11th consecutive year, Baylor Dallas has been named a Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corporation (NRC), an independent health performance measurement and improvement company.
The NRC ranked Baylor as best for the Dallas, Plano and Irving metropolitan areas in six important categories, including the best quality, the best doctors, the best nurses and the best reputation.
Recognition extends far into Baylor with the 2006 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence for acute myocardial infarction treatment and surgical infection prevention going to seven hospitals, including Baylor Medical Centers at Southwest Fort Worth, Grapevine, Irving, Waxahachie, Plano and Dallas, as well as Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital.
