- Burns of the food pipe (esophagus)

- Collapse
- Low blood pressure that develops rapidly
- Lungs and airways
- Breathing difficulty (from breathing in chemical)
- Throat swelling (which may also cause breathing difficulty)
- Skin
- Burn
- Holes (necrosis) in the skin or tissues underneath
- Irritation
