According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of overweight children has more than doubled in the past two decades. And it's no wonder. Almost 70 percent of children eat more than the USDA recommended levels of fat, and more than 80 percent don't eat the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Joel Allison Receives CEO IT Achievement Award
Baylor Health Care System President Joel Allison was one of three health care industry CEOs to receive the 2005 CEO IT Achievement Award from Modern Healthcare magazine and the Healthcare Information Management System Society. The annual award recognizes CEOs committed to bringing information technology to their organizations to improve care and meet strategic objectives.

Celebrating Women 2005The sixth annual Celebrating Women luncheon will take place Oct. 20 at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel. The goal of the event is to raise funds for the W.H. and Peggy Smith Baylor Sammons Breast Center and breast cancer research at Baylor. Actress Rue McClanahan will deliver the keynote address.
