Movement disorders are generally described as neurological misfires that cause involuntary excessive or awkward movements. Approximately six million people in the U.S. suffer from some form of movement disorder. The symptoms can be as subtle as a twitching eyelid, to as debilitating as uncontrollable hand tremors.
Here are some common symptoms:
- Involuntary muscle contractions or spasms
- Shaking of one or both hands
- Difficulty eating or swallowing
- Rapid blinking or squinting
- Uncontrollable slow or awkward movements
