CVA Inpatient Treatment

Patients receive inpatient therapy on both an individual and group basis. In one-on-one therapy, treatment focuses on the patient's own abilities and needs that are unique to his or her situation. In a group setting, patients who have similar deficits can work together on developing the same skills. This allows the patient to meet and work with others who are facing similar challenges. Some examples of group activities include lower extremity and upper extremity exercises and recreational activities. Patients may also participate in Community Adjustment Training (CAT), where they practice using their skills in activities outside the hospital such as going to dinner, the movies or even the grocery store.
