Information for Your Stay
We want to make your stay at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation as productive and beneficial as possible. To help you focus on your rehabilitation efforts here is some helpful information about your stay.
Parking
Parking lot #28, adjacent to the hospital on Gaston Avenue, and Parking Lot #27, on the outpatient side of the Hospital on Washington Street, are designated for family members of inpatients and for outpatients and participants in our community exercise and aquatic classes. To ensure we have adequate space for these people, please ask friends and other visitors to park in lot #9 on the corner of Gaston and Hall.
Family members will be given parking tokens to allow them to exit the parking lot at no cost. Parking tokens can be picked up from the nursing stations on each patient care floor.
Guests and visitors who park in lot #9 can enter the facility from Gaston Avenue. The parking fee ranges from $2 to $3.50 depending on the length of time in the lot.
Parking is not permitted in the front and side driveways that are designated for patient transportation drop-off and pick-up. Please ask your family members and visitors to honor this request.
Hospital Hours and Access
The lobby entrance on Gaston Avenue and the Floyd Street entrance, near the Aquatics Center are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The west entrance near the Gift Shop is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. You can exit any door at any time, but after the doors are locked at night, you will be unable to re-enter until 6 a.m.
Laundry
As a convenience to our patients and their family members, a laundry room is provided on the first floor of the hospital. There is no charge to use the equipment. You may bring your own washing detergent or you may purchase individual boxes in the laundry room.
If you are unable to do laundry and have no family members available, can make special arrangements for this service through the nursing department.
Dining Options
The Truett Cafeteria is located on the Baylor University Medical Center campus, on the basement level of Truett Hospital. Family members and visitors can take the rear elevators to the basement level and follow the signs in the tunnel that lead to the cafeteria and bake shop. Daily food selections are available by calling 2-MENU inside the hospital or (214) 820-MENU from outside the hospital. The Truett Cafeteria is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Atrium Market is located in the lobby of Roberts Hospital on the Baylor University Medical Center campus. It provides ready to go foods with choices in a single-serving size or family-sized meals that are either hot and ready to eat or pre-packed for heating and serving later. The Atrium Market is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Nourishment Centers are located on all patient floors. They are stocked with tea and coffee for family members and visitors. Snacks are also available for patients through the nursing staff. Perishable food must be labeled and can be stored in refrigerators on each floor. Food is disposed of each day at midnight. Food that does not require refrigeration may be kept in patient rooms in non-breakable containers with an airtight lid.
Soft drink machines are also located on the third and fourth floor patient dining rooms and the second floor occupational therapy gym.
Gift shop
The Gift Shop is located on the first floor of our hospital near the west entrance. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Gift Shop offers cards, small gifts, magazines and sundries.
Chaplain and Worship Services
Our Chaplain is available to meet with patients and family members to provide support and spiritual counseling. The Chaplain can be reached at (214) 820-9550 during daytime hours. Chaplain services are provided on a 24-hour basis and can be arranged through the nursing staff as needed.
A worship service is held each Sunday at 11:10 a.m. in the Chapel located on the first floor of the hospital, off the left side of the Gaston Avenue lobby entrance. The Chapel also takes prayer requests and provides devotional materials. The Dial-A-Prayer is another service available to patients and family members and can be accessed by calling (214) 820-2333.
