Gastrointestinal Physiology Laboratory
The Gastrointestinal Physiology Laboratory performs specialized tests, including:
- esophageal motility to determine how well the esophagus functions
- ambulatory pH studies to assist in diagnosing gastroesophageal reflux disease
- anorectal manometry to assess anal sphincter and rectal function
Also offered are breath tests used to diagnose the presence of ulcer-causing bacteria in the stomach, bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, lactose intolerance and chemical analysis of diarrheal specimens.
