Baylor Women's Incontinence Program
Incontinence in women is more common than most people think and it can be treated. Many things can cause incontinence in women including aging, obesity, repetitive lifting, exercise, childbirth and even poor posture. Post-surgical patients, including those who have had hip replacement or abdominal surgeries are also at a higher risk.
The Outpatient Therapy Department at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas offers a Women's Incontinence Program to help you deal with the issues of incontinence. Many of these issues are a result of pelvic floor muscle disorders. Treatment and management may include pelvic floor muscle strengthening and reeducation, joint alignment, biofeedback, electrical stimulation, bladder training, use of vaginal cones or weights and patient education. Therapist will assist you in regaining or normalizing pelvic floor muscle function through sensory awareness and neuromuscular reeducation.
