Baylor Osteoporosis Education and Treatment

Approximately 10 million Americans suffer from the preventable bone weakening disease osteoporosis, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Because of its slow progression, many don't realize they have the disease until they experience a bone fracture.

Physical therapists in the Osteoporosis Education and Treatment Program conduct evaluations to identify secondary risk factors associated with the disease. We develop a comprehensive, personalized program including a home exercise routine with safe, site-specific exercises to strengthen the muscles needed for good posture and relief of spinal compression. You will also work on a variety of skills including balance training, fall and fracture prevention and instruction in posture and body mechanics.
