Follow-Up

Once the sleep study is completed, the staff of the Sleep Center at Baylor Dallas meets with the patient to discuss results and review treatment options. Ongoing follow-up, when appropriate, contributes to the success of treatment and of long-lasting improvement in sleep quality, as well as daytime functioning.

The Sleep Center professionals work with the patient's referring physician, sending him or her a final report detailing the findings and treatment recommendations.

Not all patients require further follow-up. However, one example of ongoing follow-up occurs in patients who have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is frequently the treatment of choice. The Sleep Center at Baylor Dallas team works closely with the patient to provide good adaptation to CPAP. The team specializes in analyzing computer downloads of CPAP machines, mask fittings and acclimating patients to wearing CPAP comfortably.
