The Comprehensive Wound Care Center provides patients specialized wound care services in a dedicated environment. Research has shown that comprehensive wound care programs can reduce the risk of infection or other complications, which also may decrease the length of a hospital stay.

Multidisciplinary Team
The multidisciplinary team of the Comprehensive Wound Care Center consists of physicians, nurses, technicians, physical and occupational therapists, nutritionists, care coordinators, and prosthetics.

Inpatient wound care is provided by nurses with special training in wound care, who follow you throughout your stay, guiding the wound care, serving as a resource for the attending physician and staff nurse, providing staff and patient teaching, and participating in discharge planning.

For inpatients scheduled to continue their care as an outpatient, the wound care nurse providing inpatient care makes arrangements with the nurse providing outpatient care. The outpatient nurse visits with you within 48 hours of discharge to promote continuity of care and provide a contact resource upon discharge.

A case manager works with you and your family to help ensure the treatment plan is clearly understood. The case manager stays in contact with you between visits, including follow-up calls, and collaboration with home health providers or nursing home, as well as facilitates communication between the wound care center physician and the referring physician.
