Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Our Children's House at Baylor offers a Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation program for children who have had catastrophic injuries, chronic illnesses, congenital disorders and other medical issues. Our comprehensive program supports children as they prepare to leave the hospital and return home.
When children are admitted to the program, they undergo a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team assessment. With this information, the team designs an individualized treatment plan to address the child's specific needs. Our team continually monitors the child's progress to determine if adjustments should be made to his or her treatment.
We make every effort to include a child's family during his or her treatment. Our experienced staff helps teach the family about their child's condition and how to manage symptoms at home. In addition to learning medical and therapeutic care, they can participate in patient care conferences with other members of the treatment team. Additionally, we offer parents resources to cope with stress and other difficulties during their child's treatment.
