The Ideal Patient Experience at Baylor Plano
Patients at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano experience an up-scale, elegant atmosphere supported by advanced technology to enhance patient care.
"Our goal is to create the ideal patient experience. Through detailed design and advanced technology, we want to make each patient's visit to Baylor Plano safe, efficient and very comfortable," said Jerri Stuart-Garison, president, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.
This more hospitality-like environment will contribute to patients' and family members' comfort, promoting healing and rapid recovery.
- Private, larger-than-average hospital rooms designed with warm colors, soothing pieces of artwork and soft lighting. Each room features a 30-inch LCD television with a channel that displays patient care information, such as medication and nutrition instructions.
- Internet access
- The design of the nursing units is more amenable for patients, families and staff as well. Each floor has a family lounge, including kitchen resources, so loved ones can have coffee or heat up soup they bring from home. Family members are welcome to stay overnight in the patient's room.
- Patients are able to order room service meals from a selection of food choices appropriate for their medical condition. For example, a patient with diabetes would choose from a menu of low-salt, low-fat meals. All menu items are prepared under the direction of an in-house executive chef.
- New technology allows physicians to digitally display, archive and transmit images such as X-rays, CTs and MRIs. This advanced technology offers immediate access to images and other medical records, instant verification of image quality, ability to manipulate images for better viewing, efficient delivery, storage, duplication, and to conduct on-line consultations with other physicians. "Ultimately, these technological advances enable our physicians and nurses to spend more time with patients and to create a safer environment, and that is our goal," Garison said.
- A garden level patio outside the medical center cafeteria provides family members and patients a tranquil place to visit. Attention to landscaping enhances the grounds and compliment the indoor dcor.
Next door to the hospital, Baylor Medical Pavilion I houses a full range of primary care physicians and medical specialists, as well as house the Baylor Scoliosis Center and the Women's Imaging Center.
