How to Start Healing

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. With the help of our health care professionals, we will teach you how to care for your wound at home including how to change dressings, what factors may slow your healing process and how to protect yourself from further injuries. We are always available to answer your questions and give you not only our expertise in wound care, but also our support during the healing process.

Your physician will need to write a prescription for wound care at the Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department. You may either bring the prescription to our office or your doctor may fax it. We will contact you for insurance information and to schedule your first appointment.

Before beginning treatment, your evaluating therapist will perform a thorough examination of your wound and review your medical history. We will develop a treatment plan based on this assessment which will be faxed to your referring physician for review. As you heal, your treatment plan may be adjusted as necessary. Once your wound is healed you will be discharged and a full report will be sent to your physician.
