CT Scans

At Baylor, we offer computerized tomography (CT) scans to assist the physicians on our medical staff in diagnosing and treating you and your family.

The chance for successful treatment and recovery is much greater when medical conditions are detected in their earliest stages. A computerized tomography (CT) scan can be one of your most valuable detection tools.

A CT scan uses X-rays and computerized imagery to take layered pictures of the human body. A CT scan displays images of hard and soft tissues, including organs and bones, in great detail, which enables this highly sensitive instrument to detect conditions or abnormalities that conventional X-rays cannot.

CT scanners feature highly defined cross-sectional displays and three-dimensional images that assist physicians on the medical staff at Baylor in quickly and accurately making a diagnosis and determining appropriate treatment options. During the exam, you lie on a padded table and are moved through a donut-shaped scanner where, with each movement of the table, the scanner takes a different image of your body. The painless procedure usually lasts about 10 minutes, during which time you remain in voice contact with the technologist. Afterward, your scanned images are interpreted and the results are provided to your physician.
