Blood and Marrow Transplants at Baylor
Baylor Dallas performed the first bone marrow transplant in North Texas in 1983 and has since performed more than 3,000 bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants. We are the 11th largest blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) center in the country and our program was the 5th in the nation to receive accreditation from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy. Our program is also nationally recognized as a “Center of Excellence” among multiple insurance carriers.
Because of our experience in autologous, as well as related and unrelated allogenic transplants, we offer treatments for patients with Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkins lymphoma, acute leukemia, myeloma, chronic myeloid leukemia, severe aplastic anemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and related diseases.
Our commitment to research also continues to yield better ways to reduce transplant-related complications and match patients with donors. Historically, 80 percent of Baylor patients have found a matched donor.
Beyond transplantation, we are studying innovative treatments such as non-myeloblative transplants, cancer vaccines, radiopharmaceuticals, treatment of graft-versus-host disease, immune intolerance induction, supportive care and novel anti-infectives.

Meet Carol Wilson
Carol Wilson, the young, seemingly healthy mother of two and school nurse was diagnosed with leukemia. At Baylor Dallas she received a blood stem cell transplant from her sister.
“I was so tired I could barely move. Now I’m as healthy as I ever was before. Throughout the process the staff treated me like I was the most important person on earth. Thanks to Baylor Dallas and my sister, I’m alive.”
