F. David Winter, Jr., MD, MSc, MACP 

President, Chairman and Chief Clinical Officer

HealthTexas Provider Network

Dr. David Winter is president, chairman of the board and chief clinical officer of HealthTexas Provider Network (HTPN), a multi-specialty, physician-led, patient-centered organization with more than 500 physician practices across North Texas and Baylor Health Care System’s (BHCS) primary physician group.  He also is in the private practice of internal medicine at the Tom Landry Center on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (Baylor Dallas). As a medical writer, he has published numerous scientific articles and papers and serves on the editorial staff of the Baylor University Medical Center Proceedings.

Dr. Winter also enjoys teaching as an attending physician in the internal medicine department at Baylor Dallas, is on the clinical faculty of Southwestern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center, and is an adjunct professor in the School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Dr. Winter received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, completed an internship and residency at Baylor Dallas, and has been awarded a Master of Science in medical management from the University of Texas at Dallas.  He has been honored with a mastership in the American College of Physicians and has served that organization as governor of the Northern District of Texas and board member of the national PAC.

He serves on the board of trustees for BHCS, the board of directors for THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano, the President’s Executive Council of BHCS, the Physician Advisory Council of the Health Care Coalition of Texas and the board of the STEEEP Governance Council.

Dr. Winter has many professional accomplishments including serving as consultant to many organizations and medical groups, including the King Faisal Specialty Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, the Dallas Sidekicks Professional Soccer Team, the Executive Health Program of the ABC Hospital in Mexico City, the Ministry of Health in El Salvador, the Guatemala Minister of Health in Guatemala, St. Francis Medical Group in Indianapolis, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Kentucky, the Lubbock Diagnostic Clinic in Lubbock and the Hillcrest Health System in Waco. In addition, he hosts a weekly television series on WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliate, and a weekly radio program on KVIL-AM, KLUV-FM and WBAP-AM.

He is the president of the Discovery Foundation, a health care philanthropy organization.  He is the founder and past president of MedProvider and also a founding member of HTPN.  In addition, he was the originator of MedBuilding, a health care real estate investment trust.

He is happily married and has two successful children.
