Gary Brock 

President and Chief Operating Officer

Baylor Health Care System

Gary Brock is president and chief operating officer for Baylor Health Care System (BHCS). In his present role, he provides operational strategic leadership and operational oversight for BHCS, an integrated health care delivery system serving the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas region.

Brock serves as the system’s executive leader to support the chairman and Board of Trustees of the BHCS, as well as the chairman and Board of Trustees of the system’s Operating Policy and Procedure Board of the nine BHCS community medical centers. In this capacity, he strives to fulfill the system’s mission and vision, ensure clinical quality, safety and service excellence, manage strategic planning and growth, as well as innovation and stewardship of human and financial resources. Brock also provides direct executive leadership and oversight for the senior vice president of hospital operations, HealthTexas Provider Network (physician clinics and practice management company), Baylor Quality Alliance network, as well as for corporate services including nursing services, consumer affairs comprised of marketing and public relations, business development and managed care.

Throughout his distinguished 28-year career with Baylor, Brock has held many leadership positions. He served as president of Baylor Medical Center at Garland and senior vice president of managed care and physician network development.  He also served as president of HealthTexas Provider Network, Baylor’s primary physician practice management organization, from its inception in 1994 until 2000. Prior to joining Baylor, he was assistant administrator of McAlester Regional Hospital in McAlester, Okla. 

Mr. Brock is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Oklahoma.

An active member of the health care profession, Brock serves as a trustee on the Texas Hospital Association board.  He is the chairman of the Texas Health Ventures Group board of managers – a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International which has developed and operates 28 surgery centers and short-stay hospitals in partnership with local physicians in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.  He also serves as an advisory board member of the Healthcare Coalition of Texas and board member of the Baylor Quality Alliance.
