Diagnosing GI Disorders

Approximately 70 million Americans experience gastrointestinal problems, such as bleeding, Crohn's disease and intestinal tumors and getting a close look inside the small intestine is the key to making a diagnosis.

Baylor Grapevine offers a pill-sized camera that provides physicians with a great view of the GI tract. All you have to do is ingest the capsule, which passes naturally through your digestive tract. The camera within the capsule records video images that are transmitted and stored on a recorder belt you wear on your waist. Eight hours after swallowing the capsule, you return the recorder belt to your doctor, who view the results.
